Saturday 21st June – Oldmeldrum Sports & Highland Games!
The 95th anniversary Oldmeldrum Sports & Highland Games will be officially opened at 1:30pm by world champion indoor bowler and local man Jason Banks.
- 10:30 am – qualifying heavy events for 18-25 year olds.
- 1.00 pm – The Claymore Homes Light events start at
- 1.00 pm – The open heavy events including the Morris’s Hotel British Caber Championship.
- 1:20 pm – The first massed bands parade.
- 1.30 pm – Official opening ceremony by Jason Banks
- 2.00 pm – The Meldrum 5 miler starts followed by the one mile kids race.
- 2.15 pm – The MRG Elctrical Services highland dancing competitions in the arena.
In the marquee we have Wrstlezone back along with photography display from the Oldmeldrum & Bourtie Heritage Society. Magic Jono will also be there doing magic and balloon modelling for the kids.
Back in the main arena we will have the Rollstud Drum Majors display and the Mattioli Woods Mace O’er the Banner. We will also have Yees Hung Ga Chinese Liin dance and martial arts display.
There will be an array of trade stands offering a variety of goods and fundraising for local charities and groups and at the top of the field we again have Wrights Funfair.
During the Saturday evening we will have live music in the marquee at a family friendly event where kids will be welcome with a responsible adult until 11pm.
