Meldrum, Bourtie & Daviot Community Council

A community council is a voluntary organisation set up by statute by the local authority and run by local residents to act on behalf of its area. As the most local tier of elected representation, community councils play an important role in local democracy.

Meldrum Bourtie & Daviot Community Council works to keep everyone informed about local happenings, events, and services. We’re dedicated to fostering engagement and providing valuable information for both residents and visitors. Together, we can strengthen our community ties and support each other in various initiatives.

Community councils are comprised of people who care about their community and want to make it a better place to live. Community councils must represent all people in the area without prejudice.

Our Community Council represents residents in the three settlements of Oldmeldrum, Bourtie and Daviot and the rural community around.

Community Services

What do we do?

Our primary function is to provide local democratic representation for all the residents in our area. Our local Councillors are also regular attendees at our meetings. We are statutory consultees for matters concerning planning. We also represent the views of our residents on wider bodies such as the Community Council Forum

While we are not a fund raising body and do not set out to earn funds we are occasionally able to allocate small amounts to appropriate groups and causes in our area.

We are, however, proud to offer a range of services that enhance our community. Our focus is on delivering support and information that meet local needs effectively. Let’s explore what we can do together.

We maintain a number of Defibrillators located both in Oldmeldrum and in Daviot. They have been used several times to preserve life.  Click here for more information and for locations.

We organise events that bring people together and celebrate our community spirit. Monthly markets during the spring and summer. Informational gatherings, Community celebrations, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and participate in.

Resillience

We hold a stock of equipment for use in the event of an emergency such as a power cut or flooding. You can access this equipment by contacting our resilience group here.

Our Local Directory provides easy access to vital community contacts. If you’d like to be included just get in touch info@oldmeldrum.org
