Two taken to hospital following two-car smash near Oldmeldrum
A man and a woman were taken to hospital after a smash on a notorious Aberdeenshire road yesterday.
The male casualty had to be cut free from a black Fiat Punto following the two-car collision which happened on the A947 Aberdeen to Fyvie road, near Oldmeldrum, at around 12.45pm.
The woman was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with back injuries. There were no further details of the man’s condition last night.
A police spokesman said he was taken to ARI “as a precaution” having suffered minor injuries.
Police, fire and rescue and ambulance services attended the accident, which resulted in the closure of the road between the Tarves junction and the Oldmeldrum roundabout for about three hours.
Nine firefighters were called to the scene in appliances from Oldmeldrum and Inverurie, and crews cut the man from the wreckage of the vehicle.
