Meldrum Amenities Improvement Group (MAIG) has been successful with their application seeking funding to replace their 17 year old diesel tractor with an eco friendly Electric Utility vehicle.

Through the Vattenfall Unlock Your Future a £3mn community benefit scheme, designed with the community, will see an investment of £150,000 a year throughout the operational life of the wind farm.
MAIG was one of eleven Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire successful community recipients. The group has been awarded £15,000.

Andrew McCartney, group Administrator, said that this award will endorse a significant contribution towards the total cost of our replacement project and, once fulfilled, MAIG will be playing their part in assisting Aberdeenshire Council’s Sustainability Charter Action Programme to be carbon neutral in the short to medium term i.e. 2020 and for the whole of Aberdeenshire to be carbon neutral in the medium to long term i.e. 2030. “With the new carbon economy gaining significant momentum our project will accomplish and sustain an environmental contribution within our community and will considerably reduce our operating and maintenance costs.”
