SPARKS (Supporting Parents and Remarkable Kids) have been attending special needs sessions at Hoodles Playbarn, Oldmeldrum, since January last year.
And last Thursday members of the group made an “end of term” presentation to thank staff or all their help.
Jill Curran from the group, started seven months ago, said that the presentation was a way of thanking Hoodles for opening its doors once a month in the evenings, allowing the children to be themselves and parents to relax. The group is made up of mostly autistic children who are unable to deal with crowds and are normally unable to visit Hoodles due to sensory issues.
Jill said, “These sessions have been a real hit and the staff have been amazing, they even put on a Christmas party for the kids, and the staff can never do enough to help.
“There is very little after school activities for children like ours, most of the children that attend are from St Andrew’s School, Inverurie but there are other children who attend too. These are not money-making sessions for Hoodles as there’s approx 12-15 kids at a session but Hoodles are happy to do it for the children and they always go that extra mile. They deserve a big thank you!”
