Police have issued a statement regarding flooding at Inverurie: it may be advisable not to use the Souterford bridge crossing and avoid travel to Inverurie this way.

“Due to flooding in Inverurie, we can advise that Canal Road is being evacuated.

A rest centre has been opened at Inverurie Academy and people are asked to bring blankets and sleeping bags if possible as well as any medication they may require.

As further rain falls, there is also the potential for Canal Crescent, Connon Court and Road to be evacuated. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service advise that people should turn off their electricity if possible if they are evacuated.

Water levels are expected to rise by a further 10cm – 15cm until around 9pm and will remain at that level until 6am tomorrow (Tuesday 5 January 2016).

The Kingsfield Road and surrounding area of Kintore is currently being monitored and there is no evacuations at this time.

A rest centre has opened at Kintore Village Hall, School Road as a precaution and anyone attending is asked to bring blankets and sleeping bags if possible as well as any medication they may require should the need for an evacuation arise.
