OLDMELDRUM SUPERMARKET PROPOSALS
CO-OP CONSULT AGAIN ON SUPERMARKET SITE FOR OLDMELDRUM
The Co-opertive retail group have held a consultation session last week on the proposal for a large convenience store / small supermarket site in Oldmeldrum.
The site is at the edge of Oldmeldrum where the Colpy road crosses the Oldmeldrum relief road opposite Meldrum Academy. The plans for the actual building have not altered since the last application. However, the access other aspects of layout of the site have been changed and some associated other units are not included. A crossing is proposed to the Academy and the entrance is now just from the relief road and not from Colpy Road as before.
Representatives of the Agents (William Lippe) for the developer had been at Oldmeldrum Town Hall to hear comments and several hundred people are known to support the proposal. Some people also expressed opposition on road safety or issues with shops closing in the town centre.
Aberdeenshire Council have yet to get the planning application, but when the plan is submitted members of the public will have 14 days to respond with either their support or objection and their reasons. Aberdeenshire’s planning system is at: http://tinyurl.com/hxhlxw6 where you can register to get notifications and view applications.
