Oldmeldrum good news on town defibrillator.
A very generous donation from the family of the late Kenny Macleod will allow replacement for the stolen defibrillator from the box adjacent to the square in Oldmeldrum. Meldrum Bourtie and Daviot Community Council said the following:
OLDMELDRUM DEFIBRILLATOR. The family of the late Kenny Macleod have donated money to cover the cost of the new defibrillator for the square in Oldmeldrum which went missing earlier in the year. Meldrum Bourtie & Daviot Community Council are very grateful for this donation. The defibrillator will be in place as soon as the camera system is upgraded.
Local councillors are delighted with the news. Councillor Paul Johnston said: ” This is a wonderfully generous donation which has come out of loss. Kenny’s family have demonstrated that they and this community have a big heart”
Another local councillor, Cryle Shand welcomed the news and thanked the family for allowing the community to replace the defibrillator off to the theft of the original.
Absolute fabulous gift by Kenny Macleods family, only question is the place it’s in, is away from any CCTV or in full view of the public, could it be shifted into the square.
The CC are looking at improved CCTV coverage or moving the box. whichever works best.
Great news and thanks to the Macleod family.would it not be prudent to investigate alternative security options such as having it protected by a number key pad ,number combination accessed by a 999 call ,which could also request ambulance assistance.as most people carry a phone these days, the momentary delay would be better than loosing another defibrillator that provides no assistance to anyone.
The number key pad option has been investigated although is discouraged by the promoters because you have to have a phone and use it in order to gain access. This and other measures, as far as Meldrum Online matters are being considered.
