Clan Cancer – Light the North

Meldrum Town Centre is looking really good just now. The floral display is in full bloom and the colours are wonderful. Meldrum Amenities and Improvement Group (MAIG) have worked hard all year to provide and maintain this lovely display. You’ll often see them out in their yellow jackets and with their new environmentally friendly electric vehicle, watering, weeding and deadheading the displays.

The latest addition to the Town square is the Clan Cancer Light the North lighthouse which arrived this week. It is part of the Light the North Trail that will shine a light across the North-East, Orkney and Shetland with fifty lighthouse sculptures designed and created by some of the UK’s most talented artists.

At the end of the trail, each of the lighthouses will be auctioned off to raise funds for Clan Cancer Support, providing support to people affected by cancer across the north-east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland. Initial funds for Meldrum’s lighthouse were provided by donations from local businesses and the Community Council.

Light the North trail maps will be available and you can also donate to the project at Morris’s Hotel from this weekend.

The trail officially starts on Monday 9th August and finishes on 17th October
