A major survey is under way by a local group representing Oldmeldrum and Daviot residents to get local opinion on the future direction for Oldmeldrum, Bourtie and Daviot – its development and needs.

Earlier this year, the Meldrum, Bourtie and Daviot Community Council established a Future Vision group with representatives of the three communities.

With the encouragement of local Aberdeenshire Councillors, Formartine Community Planning Partnership and the local rural partnership, the Group’s first task is to gather the communities’ views and a survey questionnaire has now been developed based on the Place Standard – How Good Is Our Place. The questions range from moving around, public transport, facilities and amenities, housing and community, health, wellbeing, social interaction to feeling safe

‘Once the survey closes and results are available, open events are being planned for later this year. We want to be able to feedback the results of the survey and have further conversations with the communities to identify priorities and explore ways to take these forward in a Community Action Plan,’ said the leader of the Future Vision group, Andrew McCartney.

Aberdeenshire Council’s Area Manager for Formartine, Elaine Brown added ‘The most successful plans are those that emanate from within the community and we have been supporting other communities in Formartine to conduct community engagement such as research surveys or planning for real engagement exercises.

‘We are pleased to support the Community Council throughout this process that will enable local people to also have their voices heard in the planning and delivery of services.’

The survey is open to all residents of the Oldmeldrum, Bourtie and Daviot area to complete from June until end of September 2016.
