DAVIOT DECIDES – YOUR CHOICE ON SAT 7 OCT 2017
Meldrum, Bourtie and Daviot Community Council Future Vision Group are hosting an event in Daviot Village Hall on Saturday 7th October between 11am and 1.30pm as the next stage in the process to develop a Community Plan for the area.
With the increase in population over the last decade, the Community Council thought it was time to go to their communities to ask how people feel about the places they live, to look at how priorities have changed and to collect information that can be used to plan for the current and future needs of these communities. To this end, they set up a Future Vision Group who undertook a Future Vision Survey and are now hosting a series of community meetings to enable people to learn the results and give their opinions that will help shape the priorities for their communities.
The first event, held in the Royal British Legion Hall in Oldmeldrum on Saturday 27th May was a great success. We continue to analyse and collate the feedback from this.
The process has evolved with the support from key partners and stakeholders including the set of questions used in the survey that were based on the Place Standard tool, (https://placestandard.scot/) covering a wide range of topics such as moving around, traffic & parking, public transport, facilities and amenities, housing and community, influence and sense of control, and social interaction.
“The survey has allowed our communities to tell us what is important to them and what people like or dislike about living in their area. We are listening to the public and will be using the feedback to focus on the communities’ priorities,” said Andrew McCartney, leader of the Future Vision Group.
He continues: “Our Plan will be framed reflecting the community views about the vision for the future of our area; the issues that matter most to our community and our priorities for projects and action.
“The Plan will be our guide for what we – as a community – try to make happen over the coming years.
