Here are some comments from current volunteers

  • Volunteering at Meldrum Café I have had the chance to meet people of all ages and to hear so many interesting stories, both from customers and fellow volunteers.
  • The Café has such a relaxed and friendly environment and volunteering has allowed me to give back to my local community whenever I can.
  • Meldrum Café is a truly amazing place, and it feels special that I can help contribute to that.
  • Working in the Café really helped me with my confidence. It is interesting talking to people from all walks of life.
  • When you make a mistake, they don’t bite your head off. Everyone is really chatty and friendly. It provides a good bridge between school and work life.
  • I don’t have much time on my hands but do want to get involved in the community. I don’t have to give up a lot of time.
  • Its the best thing I have ever done. When I worked as a carer, I was restricted in the number of people I met. After retiring I began to work in the café and got to know so many people. It is very rewarding.
  • Shortly after moving to the village, my husband died. A friend invited me to the café and I was introduced to other people. Later on, I was asked if I would consider working as a volunteer. I gradually got involved in the café and got to know people, make friends and helped me to integrate into the community.
  • It is good to see the young folk grow in confidence and moving on to paid jobs once they are old enough.
