We (MAIG) have decided to enter Oldmeldrum into this year’s Beautiful Scotland Competition. This is run by Keep Scotland Beautiful, in conjunction with the Royal Horticultural Society and is the first stage in gaining possible entry of the UK wide Britain in Bloom competition.

The entries are to be based round three pillars – Horticultural achievement, Environmental responsibility and Community participation.

Our entry will include a portfolio of Oldmeldrum, a short presentation and a tour around some of the places of interest within our town, including our summer floral display. This is to demonstrate to the judges, our strong local community, heritage, achievements and what happens in Meldrum throughout the year.

This year the theme is Intergenerational Working so is aimed at all age groups working together.

We would love to hear from other local groups and business that would like to showcase their achievements in the past year or two, or anyone who would like to get involved in our entry.

This may take the form of writing a short paragraph, submitting photos or possibly taking part in the presentation or tour.
