Message from Gordon Forsyth – Meldrum Sports Committee.

“Unfortunately once again this year the Oldmeldrum Sports & Highland Games committee took the difficult decision to cancel the annual fireworks display. While Covid restrictions about meeting in groups has eased it was still felt that there was still a significant risk to those attending.

Planning such an event has significant financial outlays many months in advance of the display. Had we gone through the process of applying for licences, getting insurance and buying the fireworks for us to have to cancel that would have left us significantly out of pocket and potentially with the dilemma of how and where to store a large amount of display quality fireworks. It was just too big a risk.

All being well next year we will be back with a bang for both the Sports on the 18th of June and the fireworks in November.
