Meldrum Amenities Improvement Group have been awarded a SILVER GILT MEDAL in the Beautiful Scotland competition run by Keep Scotland Beautiful. They were also awarded the New Entrant Trophy for their efforts. The results were announced at a ceremony in Dumfries. Andrew McCartney collected the awards on behalf of MAIG. Very well done to all who support MAIG and to their fantastic volunteers. Volunteers at Meldrum's Amenities group want more flower power people to help plant out this years flower tubs, displays and hanging baskets. They want volunteers locally on June 11th and June 12th day or evening. Part or all. Oldmeldrum has won the local Aberdeenshire best in bloom competition for the last 2 years and they want help to make it 3 in a row. To help call Andrew McCartney on 01651-873473 The Amenities group provide the town with hanging baskets and floral tubs and last year had mannequins in tire square to accompany the displays. They operate a small tractor with a watering bowser with a large polytunnel just outside the town. All the towns Christmas lights are also done…
Aberdeenshire Council propose to review the traffic management in Oldmeldrum these links below are the plans detailing the proposals for comment. As part of the review Aberdeenshire propose to create one Consolidated Traffic Order for Oldmeldrum, which would include all existing Traffic Orders that are currently in place for Oldmeldrum and the proposed restrictions. Grampian Police have been consulted and they have no objections to any of the above proposals. DALE (Oldmeldrum) Peacefully at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, on Friday, March 22, 2013, Jeffrey Alan Dale, aged 70 years, (formerly of Bond Helicopters, Dyce), beloved husband of Sue, dear dad of Dennis and David, father-in-law of Lynnsey and Clare and devoted grandad of Kalysta and Caitlin. This year the Turriff show starts earlier. Sunday and Monday August 5th and 6th. As one of the premier agricultural shows and country fairs it attracts many thousands of people from all over the region. Many local Oldmeldrum people will making the short journey up the A947 to Turriff and people are advised that the roads through Meldrum will be busier than usual.
