MAIG are delighted to be awarded winner in the large town category of Formartine in Bloom competition. Huge thanks to all our fabulous volunteers and supporters and to The Formartine Partnership. This follows MAIG's tremendous success winning Silver Gilt in the Beautiful Scotland competition earlier this year.
Meldrum Amenities Improvement Group have been awarded a SILVER GILT MEDAL in the Beautiful Scotland competition run by Keep Scotland Beautiful. They were also awarded the New Entrant Trophy for their efforts. The results were announced at a ceremony in Dumfries. Andrew McCartney collected the awards on behalf of MAIG. Very well done to all who support MAIG and to their fantastic volunteers. Background: My grandfather Alexander Hector Ritchie was born in 1878. His father William owned 148 acres of land at Bucksburn Farmhouse. In 1891 the family moved to Oldmeldrum, 14 miles north of Aberdeenshire, (newhills is 4 miles north of Aberdeen). At that time William was 48 and wife Margaret, 38.
